Mobile-detail-austin-martin              Eternally known as the first (and perhaps most well-known) James Bond, Sean Connery is without a doubt one of the best actors to come out of Scotland. Sean Connery was born as Thomas Sean Connery, in deference to his grandfather, Thomas, and was born in Fountainbridge, Edinburgh, Scotland, on August 25, 1930. Both of his parents held working jobs; his mother, Euphamia  McBain worked as a cleaner, and his father, Joseph, worked as a lorry driver and a factory worker. Sean had one younger sibling, a brother by the name of Neil, whom of which was seven years younger than Sean. Before acting, Sean took on a multitude of careers, ranging from body-builder to coffin polisher. When faced with the decision of choosing between being a professional soccer player and an actor, he chose actor instead and set the fate for the rest of his life as a famed entertainer.

Sean had joined the Royal Navy for a time but was soon discharged due to a medical condition that was prevalent in the male line of his family. Later, he initially started expressing interest in the field of entertainment as early as 1951, when he was looking for extra pay, appearing in some very minor roles in a variety of productions throughout the early 1950’s. One of Sean’s original interests was in the field of athletics, more specifically soccer. However, Sean had foreseen the possible futility of being a professional soccer player and noted that acting may be a better long-term initiative; in Sean’s words: “I realized that a top-class footballer could be over the hill by the age of 30, and I was already 23. I decided to become an actor and it turned out to be one of my more intelligent moves.”

Sean’s first major role on screen was ‘No Road Back,’ in 1957. Throughout the late 1950’s and into the early 1960’s, he appeared in a variety of television movies such as ‘Anna Christie’ of 1957, and appeared as a guest on numerous television shows. Sean’s arrival to stardom came in 1962, with the first James Bond film ‘Dr. No,’ a major hit. He continued to be Ian Fleming’s James Bond until 1983 in ‘Never Say Never Again,’ altogether acting in seven James Bond movies. After starring in several movies, he finally announced retirement in 2006, although he participated as a voice actor in a variety of roles, including the voice over for James Bond himself in the video game ‘From Russia with Love,’ based off the game of the same name. He has one son, Jason Connery, whom he had with his ex-wife Diane Cilento, an actress. He is currently married to Micheline Roquebrune, whom he has been married to for over 40 years.
